Débat démocratique

I definitely don't like this political debate in France, where the different groups see each other as adversaries (or even enemies) rather than interlocutors. Debates can only be passionate, quarrelsome, feverish even. Constant confrontation is the rule. Opposition is the order of the day, whatever the subject. The general interest is completely forgotten for the sake of quarrelling for quarrelling's sake. It's hardly surprising that so many citizens lose interest in the work of the Assembly and no longer trust their representatives.
