Optimism

At times, the news from the world are so bad and so depressing that I feel like shutting myself away, isolating myself and ignoring everything that's happening outside my home. It only lasts a moment. I want to be resolutely optimistic. The truth is, I have no choice. In my quiet residential street, on the edge of town and country, someone slashed the tires of a car with a knife. A mother walking her child in the Parc de La Garenne was violently robbed (the assailants were arrested). Yes, this is Angers, a bourgeois, right-wing, Catholic town, one of the safest in France according to the latest statistics.
